All three names map to the same license, the same duty to the policyholder, and the same job, representing the policyholder rather than the insurance carrier. Texas public adjusters work on a contingency fee basis, a percentage of the settlement paid only on recovery. The DCS fee is 10% of the claim recovery; if the insurer paid on the claim before the contract date, the fee is 25% of the new money recovered, capped at 10% of the total settlement - you pay whichever is less. Separate from the DCS contract, Texas Insurance Code §4102.104 caps the fee at 10% of the amount paid by the insurer, and that cap applies to every claim, declared disaster or not. There are no upfront costs, hourly fees, or charges if we do not recover. The contract must be in writing.

Consider a public adjuster when the carrier denies the claim, underpays the estimate, delays without explanation, sends an adjuster who will not scope obvious damage, or sends an offer that does not match the visible loss.
